Asia Tech Wire (Sep 24) -- Gerry Keefe, co-head of global banking at HSBC, said in an interview with Bloomberg on Monday that the bank wants to join the boom in financing for AI infrastructure.
"We're actually ramping up our presence in infrastructure finance, and this is going to be a point of focus for the next couple of years," Keefe said.
Last week, BlackRock and Microsoft said they would join forces in a group seeking to raise $30 billion in private equity to build data center and energy infrastructure for AI expansion.
"There has never been more capital available for financing this type of activity," Keefe said.
He disclosed, "We've been very focused recently on digital infrastructure and helping to build out both infrastructure that relates to power as well as data centers required for the compute that will support this AI boom."
