Great Wall Motor's Rayong plant to start operation in Thailand

(Asian Tech Press)The Rayong plant, which is built by Chinese auto manufacturer Great Wall Motor (GWM) in Thailand, formally started production on Wednesday, local time, and the Haval H6 with the first model rolling off the production line being the Haval H6's HEV version.

As GWM's second overseas plant for complete vehicles after Russia's Tula plant, the opening of the Rayong plant is a significant sign that GWM has entered into a stage of rapid development in the ASEAN market.

Located in Rayong's free trade zone, the plant covers an area of 658,800 square meters and has an initial annual capacity of 80,000 vehicles. 60% of them will be sold locally in Thailand, and 40% will be exported to other overseas markets. The plant will create 1,000 jobs in Thailand.

The Haval H6 HEV, as the first model to produced at the Rayong plant, is equipped with L2 autonomous driving technology, intelligent voice, OTA, and many other intelligent technologies, and will open pre-sale in the Thai market on June 15 and officially launch there on June 28.
