Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., also known as Foxconn Technology Group, has been holding talks about electric vehicle manufacturing in Wisconsin. Still, the plans have not yet been finalized, according to media reports.
Foxconn mentioned in a statement that it has been working with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) on the company's electric vehicle manufacturing plans.
Meanwhile, Foxconn and U.S. electric vehicle start-up Fisker have finalized a framework agreement to establish an electric vehicle production site in the United States. The agreement also stipulates that the two companies will use Foxconn's MIH open platform to develop vehicles sold under the Fisker brand.
The location of the production site has not yet been confirmed, with many speculating that it could be Foxconn's Wisconsin plant. However, Foxconn said it is evaluating other potential production locations, aiming to produce about 250,000 electric vehicles per year.
Over the past year, Foxconn has announced partnerships with automobile companies, including Fisker, Byton, and Geely. However, Foxconn's plans to enter the electric car sector through a partnership with Byton have hit a roadblock, according to people familiar with the matter.
