According to Taiwan Economic Daily News, Macronix International and Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) held a signing ceremony today.
Macronix sold its six-inch wafer fab and equipment located in Hsinchu Science Park to Foxconn for NT$2.52 billion, and the transfer of ownership is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
According to the report, Foxconn said that after the acquisition of Macronix's six-inch wafer fab, the future main products will be SiC power components. It will also be producing silicon wafer products such as MEMS, which will meet Foxconn's strategic needs for the development of semiconductor, electric vehicle and digital health businesses.
