Asia Tech Wire (July 2) -- Chinese battery maker Eve Energy (300014.SZ) has broken ground on a U.S. battery joint venture with Cummins, Daimler Truck and Paccar.

The groundbreaking ceremony for Amplify Cell Technologies took place on Friday in the U.S. state of Mississippi, Eve Energy said in a statement on Sunday.

The joint venture came into existence in early June, with Eve Energy as the technology partner holding 10% and the other three companies holding 30% each.

Eve Energy said the joint venture will produce square lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, primarily for use in designated North American commercial vehicle segments, with an annual capacity of approximately 21 GWh.

As per the Chinese firm, Amplify will provide more than 2,000 local jobs.

The project is due to begin shipping in 2026, with Cummins, Daimler Truck and Paccar and their affiliates being the primary customers, purchasing the vast majority of the plant's products.
