Asia Tech Wire (Sep 19) -- A court in the European Union on Wednesday basically confirmed the EU's antitrust fine against U.S. chip giant Qualcomm to 238.7 million euros (US$265.5 million), a slight downward revision from the initial 242 million euros.

In response, a Qualcomm spokesperson said Qualcomm "respectfully disagrees with the judgment and the commission's decision and believes that we have always remained in compliance with European competition law."

The European Commission fined Qualcomm in 2019, saying it sold chipsets below cost between 2009 and 2011.

The agency called Qualcomm's practice predatory pricing, aimed at thwarting British phone software maker Icera.

In May 2011, Nvidia announced it was buying Icera for $367 million in cash.
