Asian Tech Press (Nov 17) -- The metaverse offers developers the opportunity to free themselves from the restrictive mobile duopoly of Apple Inc and Alphabet Inc's Google, Tim Sweeney, CEO of U.S. video game and software development company Epic Games Inc., said Tuesday.
"Apple and Google policies ban other companies from creating the metaverse so they can dominate it themselves and tax it," Sweeney said at the Global Conference for Mobile Application Ecosystem Fairness in South Korea.
The Epic Games founder also stressed, "We must not allow these two companies to dominate our digital lives."
"Apple locks a billion users into one store and payment processor," Sweeney said. "Apple must be stopped."
In addition, he added that the company has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Apple and Google in federal court.
