Covestro and Polymaker collaborate on recycled polycarbonate filament for 3D printing
May.26,2021

Polymaker, a Shanghai-based startup manufacturing 3D printing materials, is now using a recycled polycarbonate developed by Covestro AG (1COV-DE:XETRA), a German materials supplier, to produce Polymake PC-r, a new polycarbonate filament for 3D printing made from recycled plastic.

The material comes from 19-liter barrels from Chinese bottled water giant Nongfu Spring Co Ltd (9633: Hong Kong), a bottle containing high-purity polycarbonates.

Covestro blends the plastic waste with virgin material to produce polycarbonate base material that can be extruded into filaments for use in electronics, automotive, and other industries.
