Asia Tech Wire (Oct 24) -- Chinese startup Deep Blue Aerospace will pre-sell space travel tickets for 1.5 million yuan ($210,000) on Taobao, an e-commerce platform owned by Alibaba Group.
Huo Liang, chairman of Deep Blue Aerospace, will present the company's progress and plans for its commercial spacecraft manned efforts in a live stream on Taobao at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Huo will also launch a ticket pre-sale campaign for the company's first manned suborbital space flight in 2027 during the livestream, involving two spaceship seats priced at 1.5 million yuan each.
The mission takes the form of a combination of Deep Blue Aerospace's recoverable rocket and a manned spacecraft capsule, which is approximately 4 meters tall and 3.5 meters in diameter.
According to Deep Blue Aerospace, space tickets can be purchased by anyone between the ages of 18 and 60 who meets professional health testing standards.
Space travelers will be able to take the spaceship through the atmosphere, pass by the junction of the Earth and the universe, see the magnificent curves of the Earth, and experience the feeling of weightlessness.
