Asia Tech Wire (Aug 14) -- Chinese self-driving startup WeRide can test its driverless vehicles with passengers under a license issued by a California regulator.
The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) earlier this month issued a license valid for three years, which allows WeRide to carry passengers in its test vehicles with or without a driver.
However, the regulator does not allow WeRide to offer rides to the public or charge any fees.
Founded in 2017, WeRide is a company specialising in Level 4 autonomous driving technology.
