Asia Tech Wire (June 7) -- Chinese battery maker SVOLT Energy Technology Co. Ltd. on Thursday said it was untrue that a key customer project had been canceled.

The statement followed multiple reports that SVOLT had suspended plans to build a battery plant in Lauchhammer, in the eastern German state of Brandenburg, and that the cancelation of a key customer project was one of the major factors.

Nikkei quoted German media sources as saying that the customer was the BMW Group.

In response, SVOLT said the news of the cancelation of a key customer project was not true.

However, the Chinese battery maker has not yet responded to the news that construction of its German factory has been suspended.
