Asian Tech Press (Mar. 15) -- China's Internet regulator sent a team to social media firm Douban, urging it to clean up the "serious online mess" that has emerged on the platform.

Targeting the serious online chaos existing on the company's platform, China's State Internet Information Office (SIIO) on Monday directed its Beijing branch to send a work team to Douban's offices to supervise and rectify the situation.

Previously, the social platform had also been caught in a storm of leaking user privacy and being dropped from app stores for violating user rights.

Douban has been taken down from some app stores, including Huawei, Oppo and Vivo app stores, while it can still be searched normally in Apple's App Store.

Launched in 2005, Douban is a Chinese social networking service website that allows registered users to record information and create content related to film, books, music, recent events, and activities.
