Asia Tech Wire (Sep 5) -- ChatGPT's next generation model is expected to be released by the end of the year.

At the recent KDDI Summit, Tadao Nagasaki, CEO of OpenAI's Japanese subsidiary, revealed that OpenAI's next-generation model, codenamed "GPT-Next," is expected to be up to 100 times more powerful than the existing GPT-4 model and is scheduled for release later this year.

The GPT-Next model's improved performance is due to its optimized architectural design and improved learning efficiency, rather than relying solely on large computing resources.

He also revealed that OpenAI currently employs less than 2,000 people globally, about half of whom are focused on AI development.

OpenAI's major clients include Apple, Coca-Cola, and biotech giant Moderna.
