Asia Tech Wire (May 22) -- British-Swedish drugmaker AstraZeneca plc will create a separate supply chain in China, according to the Financial Times.

AstraZeneca Chief Executive Officer Pascal Soriot said Tuesday that drug sales and innovation in China will help the company reach its new revenue target of $80 billion by 2030.

Sorio said AstraZeneca has set up a manufacturing plant in Qingdao to serve only China and other emerging markets.

Planning for the worst under US-China tensions, he said, "We are trying to build a supply chain that would be focused on China."
