The Argentine Ministry of Health has released a report announcing data on the incidence of adverse reactions to China's Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine in Argentina and the vaccine's effectiveness in preventing death in people aged over 60.

The results show that two doses of the Sinopharm vaccine provided 84% overall protection against death in people over 60 years old, with 80.2% in people aged 60-69, 88.3% in people aged 70-79, and 77.6% in people over 80.

The report analyzed 147,908 cases, including 87,281 cases in people aged 60-69, 40,669 cases in 70-79, and 19,958 cases in 80 and older. The effectiveness against Covid-19 mortality in the Sinopharm vaccine reached 61.6 percent with the application of the first dose in the 147,908 cases analyzed, and increased to 84 percent after the second dose was applied to the same number of people.

The report also notes that the analysis was conducted during months of rapid virus transmission and included cases from 24 jurisdictions, mainly Alpha, Gamma and Lambda variants.
