Apple will Hire Porsche's Head of Chassis Development
Feb.3,2021

According to Business Insider, Apple will hire Dr. Manfred Harrer, head of chassis development at Porsche. It is unclear which position Manfred Harrer will hold, but it is widely believed that he will be involved in the manufacture of the Apple Car's chassis.

He is said to be jumping to Apple more for the challenge and opportunity than the money. Sources say he was earning more than 600,000 euros ($721,000) a year at Porsche, while his new position at Apple will likely pay more than $1 million a year.

There is no word yet on Harrer's resignation, and his LinkedIn information still shows him working at Porsche, but he is said to have said goodbye to his old colleagues at the end of 2020.

In fact, Harrer isn't the only automotive industry veteran to jump from Porsche to Apple. in 2016, Apple brought Alexander Hitzinger, Porsche's director of racing, on board to join the program.
