Asian Tech Press (Dec 21) -- Apple has begun trial production of the iPhone 13 at a Foxconn plant near Chennai, India, sources close to the matter said. Mass production is expected to start in February next year to meet domestic market and export demand.

Apple executives said that producing the iPhone 13 in India will help Apple increase the phone supply in the global market, as 20 to 30 percent of the phones produced in India are typically exported. In addition, it is estimated that nearly 70 percent of the smartphones Apple sells in India are made there.

The iPhone 13 is the highest-selling model of the iPhone 13 series in India, so the company does not plan to produce the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max in India.
