Apple said to be in talks with EV startup about a possible partnership

Asia Tech Wire (May 7) -- Speculation has emerged that Apple is exploring a partnership with an electric car startup, according to Taiwan's DigiTimes.

Citing recent supply chain speculation, the report claims that Apple is in talks with a U.S. electric car startup about the possibility of restarting its "Apple Car" partnership.

California-based Rivian is allegedly the company with the best chance among Apple's current approaches.

Although Rivian's funds are still tight, and it is difficult to escape the wave of layoffs, but the cooperation to build cars for Amazon is still ongoing, and rumors suggest that order visibility is not bad in the second half of 2024.

However, at present, the outside world only knows that Apple has carried out negotiations, can not know in detail its purpose and cooperation methods.

Apple has invested more than $10 billion in its car project over the past decade, which has had its ups and downs since its launch in 2014, and ultimately failed due to woes in the development of software and algorithms for a self-driving car.
