Asia Tech Wire (July 30) -- Apple said Monday that the artificial intelligence models for its artificial intelligence system Apple Intelligence were pre-trained on Google-designed chips.

Apple detailed in a technical document why the company chose Google's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) for training.

The iPhone also released a preview version of Apple Intelligence for select devices on the same day.

It's unclear whether Apple worked with the latest version of Google's most advanced TPU, called Trillium, to train Apple Intelligence.
