Asia Tech Wire (Oct 9) -- Taiwan-based printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturer APCB Inc. has announced the closure of its Taiwan plant and layoffs of 300 employees, and will shift production to its Kunshan subsidiary in mainland China.
Due to the downturn in the consumer electronics industry, rising raw materials, APCB, which has been in the red for three consecutive years, announced Tuesday that the board of directors resolved to adjust the operational planning of its Taiwan plant and staff severance related matters, and to stop the production plan of the Taiwan plant.
Meanwhile, APCB said it will transfer future orders to its subsidiary APCB Electronics (Kunshan) Co., Ltd. for production.
According to Taiwan media reports, APCB will close its Taiwan plant and expects to lay off more than 300 employees in three batches in October, November and December.
