Ant Group, Alibaba's financial affiliate will reportedly release OceanBase, its self-developed distributed relational database, as open-source soon, and the earliest date can be June 1.

By then, database developers and related practitioners will be able to download and experience OceanBase source code through OceanBase website, GitHub and other channels.

This will be a key step for OceanBase to change from closed source software sales to open-source business model.
