On December 19, local time, the U.S. Department of Commerce confirmed the Chips and Science Act incentives for South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix, which will provide it with a direct subsidy of $458 million. According to reports, the funds are intended to support SK Hynix's new artificial intelligence chip advanced packaging production base in Indiana. As a supplier of Nvidia, SK Hynix announced in April that it would spend $3.87 billion to build a chip packaging plant suitable for AI in Indiana. In addition to the subsidies, the U.S. Department of Commerce also plans to provide SK Hynix with a government loan of up to $500 million for the project.
