Lenovo VP responds to Nvidia CEO's comments on AI PC sales falling short of expectations

Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang said at CES 2025 this week that AI PCs have sold poorly in the market over the past year, mainly out of the PC-adapted AI ecosystem.

When asked by a reporter what he thought of Huang's opinion, Luca Rossi, executive vice president of Lenovo Group and president of the Intelligent Devices Group (IDG), offered a response.

Rossi said, "The data suggests that the PC market in 2024 is indeed relatively flat, probably around plus or minus 1%, and from that point of view one can agree with Jensen's statement that the market is indeed not growing this year."

But he's not worried about that. In his view, the technology is ready in 2024, and there are plenty of reasons to believe the market will grow in 2025 and 2026.

Rossi points out that the lifecycle of Windows 11 or Windows 10 will end in October 2025, which is bound to create a lot of demand for device replacement.

In addition, there are another 400 million devices that are at the point of replacement. At the same time, the point of interest or catalytic effect of AI PCs will drive users to re-select.

"Therefore, I think AI PC is not a question of 'if it will grow', but only a question of 'when it will be fully popularized'," Luca told reporters.

He expects the popularization rate of AI PCs to reach 40% to 50% or even as high as 80% in the next two to three years, and every PC will become an AI PC in the future.
