Chinese tech giant Huawei, was recently exposed to a shocking recruitment corruption scandal.
A well-organized cheating and bribery scheme is said to have infiltrated Huawei's recruitment process.
The scheme involved human resources personnel, internal recruiters, and even some research and development personnel working together to sell test answers and facilitate fraudulent hiring.
For every successful referral to Huawei, these people could earn up to 20,000 yuan in internal promotion fees.
What's more, these illegal operations didn't stop at the recruitment stage; new employees were also asked to pay 2k kickbacks per month.
Huawei's leadership acted swiftly and harshly after the scandal came to light.
According to a report by Caixin, Huawei is in the process of overhauling its internal "recruitment irregularities".
Huawei issued an internal notice on Tuesday saying that in the process of recruiting non-employees, several product line managers participated in cheating, arranged for others to take exams, and leaked exam questions to candidates.
The notice pointed out that many people also made profits by selling company information assets.
The company has now dismissed the people involved and asked them to return their illegal profits and compensate the company for their losses.
At the same time, a notice issued by Huawei's Human Resources Management Department was circulated on Chinese social media, dated 2025.
The notice shows that an audit found that multiple people in the ICT Products and Solutions, Semiconductor Business Department, Human Resource Management Department, ICT Sales and Services Department, Terminal BG, and Quality and Process IT Department had arranged/participated in substitution exams and disclosed service competency examination topics to candidates in non-employee selection operations, and that at the same time multiple people had profited from selling the company's information assets.
Judging from the content of the notice, it is related to the illegal recruitment reported by Huawei on Tuesday.
And someone who has read the full text revealed, "There are 36 regular employees who were fired. And there are also more than 20 leaders and HRs who were notified and criticized and demoted."
As one of the world's leading tech companies, Huawei has maintained a reputation for innovation and integrity, but this scandal could have damaged public trust.
However, Huawei's swift and stern response sends a clear message that corruption will not be tolerated.
