Hon Hai's entry into the ultra-thin AR glasses market may be in preparation for Apple's new AI product orders, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily News.
The Apple supplier announced Tuesday to join hands with Porotech to enter the ultra-thin AR glasses market, and plans to establish Micro LED wafer production line in Taichung, which is expected to start mass production in the fourth quarter of next year, in order to cope with the future demand related to the products for global mainstream customers.
Considering that Hon Hai's current mainstream customers are Apple, Nvidia, etc., the industry believes that Hon Hai is preparing for Apple's subsequent ultra-thin AR glasses and even popular AI glasses.
This means that Apple or Nvidia is giving birth to AI glasses and will entrust Hon Hai to produce them. Hon Hai has made advance arrangements for this and is ready to welcome large orders. Once the customers give the order, it can start production.
