June 4 local time, Korea's Covid-19 vaccination promotion group stated that 877,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, which SK Bioscience was commissioned to produce, left the factory that morning.
The vaccines were the last batch of vaccines delivered in the first half of this year, purchased directly from AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals by the government. The vaccines will be shipped to the logistics center in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, and then distributed to medical facilities across the country. The government has procured a total of 20 million doses of vaccines from AstraZeneca. 7.23 million doses were scheduled to be delivered from the 14th of last month until the first week of this month. Still, an additional 10,000 doses were delivered during the shipping process, resulting in the actual delivery of 7.24 million doses.
Including the vaccine shipped on the same day, a total of 8.813 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine were supplied in Korea. Currently, AstraZeneca vaccination is available for people aged 65 to 74 and people with chronic severe respiratory diseases. From the 7th of this month, people aged 60 to 64 and kindergartens, childcare centers, and teachers in the lower grades of elementary schools will receive the AstraZeneca vaccine. (Yonhap News Agency)
